Alyssa Pearson made this film about her mom's deployment and the memories, images, ideals and responses that surround that experience.   While this short is new to reelate, Alyssa is already busy working on a piece that is also inspired by her mother's experiences.  You can support her kickstarter to make a short narrative fiction film that deals with the experiences that many female veterans have upon return.

From Sipopo Hollow: Many Many Angels On My Shoulder


Thelma Slater spent two careers and then many more years after working tirelessly for literacy, for under-resourced populations, for immigrants to stark county , for parents and for systemic attention to literacy issues.  This short documentary was partially funded by a grant from Malone University and won Best Documentary at the Canton Film Fest.  The story of her childhood and how it impacted her investments in the community is only one of the many worthwhile "Thelma stories" that have been told.

John Ewing: The Early Years


Kim Ann Pfau made this short documentary about the early life of John Ewing in Canton, Ohio, and his start in film programming here in Stark County.  Ewing continues to work as an award-winning programmer for the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Art Institute.  This short film was also screened at the Cleveland International Film Fest.
